Broc 3 - Cover Me Impressed
Everybody’s Dressin’ Funny … Cover Me Impressed!

The Original

This song illustrates what Elvis could of (should of) been if not for the inexplicable power and persuasion of the loathsome, manipulative Colonel Tom Parker. Elvis had so much soul and one of the greatest voices of all time. He wanted badly to sing gospel, rhythm and blues, rockabilly and rock. But somehow Parker had a hold of him and badgered him into all sorts of endeavors that Elvis was averse to. It was Parker that signed the movie deals that made Elvis a cartoon and forced him to sing mostly goofy ridiculous songs. Elvis hated it but for whatever reasons could not break away. We’ll never know why Parker had the power he did over Elvis and more importantly what could have been if he hadn’t.

Song by Paul’s request (yes, you can do that).

Nico:

Such a beautifully poignant and reflective song of a man’s life. Simply amazing that Jackson Browne wrote it in high school at age 16.

Nico recorded it in 1967. There were a few versions thereafter before Jackson finally got a recording contract and released his own definitive version in 1973.
