Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

An early Neil song, one that I’ve always kinda liked. I knew Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs would do a faithful version, and as usual, it borders on simply too faithful.

I couldn’t stand Bettye LaVette’s screeching of this song. That’s a big no.

Rheostatics did a semi-faithful version, adding their own rockin’ element to make it not necessarily better than Matthew Sweet’s version, but at least more interesting. This version got my vote.

Sweet and Hoffs harmonize so beautifully on this song. Might be might my favorite of there excellent and considerable covers catolouge.

LaVette does a fantastic soulful version of the song. I love it but guitar is so integral to this venerable old tune.

Rheostatics and company certainly capture the spirit of Neil and Horse. I like that it is a reverent cover and yet they add their own to the song.

In somewhat of an upset, I have gone with the Rheostatics et al for their excellent and creative interpretation.
