Broc 3 - Cover Me Impressed
Everybody’s Dressin’ Funny … Cover Me Impressed!

The Original

Arnie pointed out to me that Pete Townshend once called SOS the greatest pop song of all time. Remind me not to ask Pete for any playlists anytime soon … (insert chuckle).

Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

Ugh. Three horrible covers of a song I actually kinda like. Men Without Hats have proven why everyone considers them a one hit wonder. The Mad Caddies sound like an amateurish Green Day soundalike. Israelvis tries to do something a little different with the song, making it tolerable. This is one of those songs that really can only be done by ABBA.

The lead singer for ABBA … such an earnest look on her face … someone needed to tell her that it was just a song …

Three reasonable, reverent covers. I liked The Mad Caddies the most.

Surprised to learn of Townshend’s remark about this song. I was never into ABBA, and only know about five of their songs. I think I prefer the other four to this.

Men Without Hats sounded too much like the original. The Mad Caddies brought some life into it, and won the vote. Didn’t care for the version by Israelvis.

  4. Greg Olson's avatar Greg Olson says:

That was more fun than I thought it would be. Men Without Hat’s version sounds much like Tinny Tim’s version…….if he did one. Really enjoyed Mad Caddies, I had never heard of them & Israelivis…………holy power cord, Batman

    Men Without Hats-Men Without Talent

Mad Caddies- not awful also not good

Israelvis- weird glam metal version better than the others

If I run into Townshend I’m going to reach up for a high five as a ruse then kick him in the stones as hard as I can.
This was like being forced to watch a soccer game between two teams you care nothing for that ends in a 0-0 tie.
