Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

Less than Jake consistently impresses me with enjoyable covers. Here they took a truly bad song and made it tolerable.
Good reggae is always enjoyable and here we also get some tolerable rap. But still, they should have chosen a less horrid song to cover.
Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox covers are always eminently superb in whatever genre he chooses to explore. And, while not his best effort, this one is predictably enjoyable.
Probably should not have ventured into featured this God-awful song, but hey, I’m only human … we all make mistakes. Less than Jake did the most to make this abomination listenable. They win this race.
This really hits my 80s cringe rock funny bone with a sledgehammer. Take some Mr. Mister add a dollop of Howard Jones and wipe the spittle off Richard Marx’s yogurt spoon and you have some Outfield DNA. Even though watching their video makes me want to do horrible things, listening to this song on its own makes me imagine a more vile an
putrid vision. Less Than Jake took a step in the right direction. They cleaned most of the lemur poop out the blender but my smoothie was still tainted. Wycliff and Eve add better tempo and many studio affectations but a bowling ball dressed with coriander, tarragon and rosemary is still impossible to eat. Scott Bradlee’s PMJ pulled out all the stops featuring Big Chief from Cuckoo’s Nest ( after 150 lb weight loss) on guitar, Rob Schneider on bass and Andy Katz on piano as well as a porcelain retro love doll on vocals. They got my vote. Maybe in a far off galaxy that whiny lead vocalist is catnip to their senses but it’s a lemur smoothie to me.
All covers were better than the original.
Everything I’ve heard from Less Than Jake has been good, and this is no exception.
PMJ takes a classier approach. Always worth a listen, but the other material I’ve heard from them has been even more enjoyable than this.
Wyclef Jean is the surprise winner today, with a reggae and rap inspired take.
I tried listening to the original just for a few seconds, just to refresh my memory, but the pre-vomitory twinges started immediately and I had to pause it. There really is no rescuing this song. Less Than Jake made it ever so tolerable, so they got my vote. Reggaefication, Cocktailification… nothing can rescue it, really.
