Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

I was not familiar with this song. It kind of grew on me as I listened to many covers of it. I like the lyrics more than Michael’s delivery.
School of Fish provides interest by transforming the song into a rocker.
Noah Guthrie’s acoustic version is well done.
I always love when Tori Amos covers a song. It always has a different sound. Her classical piano is fantastic and she have a very good, emotional voice. She got my vote.
I guess I chased everyone away. Sorry, Rich, that’s what you get for trusting in me. Everyone will probably unfriend you know.
The next song I enjoy by George Michael will be the first. I like some of the songs I’ve heard by Tori Amos although I haven’t heard a lot. She does some nice Led Zeppelin covers. Here she squeezes about as much as she can from this juiceless fruit. School Of Fish gave me some hope with the opening sound but they took as many punches as they landed and the 5:24 seemed much longer. Noah Guthrie was the winner for me. He elevated this higher than I thought possible.
Never been a George Michael fan, but between his solo career and his band Wham!, he had a few big hits in the eighties that got a good deal of exposure, helped along by music videos.
I didn’t recognize this by title, but upon listening, realized I heard this plenty back in the day.
I preferred Tori Amos’ version to the others.
one of those songs that I guess we all heard but maybe never listened to the lyrics that closely back in the 80s. Sounds like a pretty accurate and well versed description of a taboo subject that few artists would want to take on. The original video was interesting. Taylor Swift, very early in her career not surprisingly had to deal with a promoter taking advantage of her, so that would explain why she would consider taking on the song.
Fish version totally creeped me out, the acoustic guy added zippo to Michael’s original, but I thought Tori Amos’ version struck just the right note, and like Rich, the song did grow on me a bit and have to admit it was very well crafted.
0 for 4, including the original.
