Everybody’s Dressin’ Funny … Cover Me Impressed!

Read it in the Sunday Papers:

India’s government has hired 40 monkey impersonators in a desperate bid to scare off the real monkeys that are terrorizing the country’s parliament. Hundreds of macaques roam freely around government buildings in Delhi, attacking bureaucrats for food and chewing through Internet and phone cables. To frighten off the macaques, officials recruited a team of “very talented” monkey wallahs (or specialists), who will dress up as more aggressive langur monkeys and hoot and shriek at the smaller simians. ‘It’s not a bad way to earn my bread and butter,’ said one of the wallahs.”

Phenomenal song, simply phenomenal!!! Let me be clear, there is simply no way to improve upon The Pogues’ masterpiece. In some ways it seems foolhardy that lesser bands even attempt the task. Not sacrilegious, mind you, but seemingly self-defeating, impractical and ultimately foolish.

But in the immortal words of Hunter S Thompson, “But the ticket, take the ride”. So go ahead. You’ve got much to prove and might as well start making a name for yourself tonight. March on up to the cadre of Hells Angels at the end of the bar and slug the biggest one in the latissimus dorsi. Just please wait until I’m at least 15 miles down the road before you cash in that ticket …

Read it in the Sunday papers …

A South Korean inventor who was fed up with drinking alone has created a robot companion that can knock back shots with him all night long. Eunchan Park began developing Robot Drinky after he spent Christmas 2012 drinking rice wine by himself. “I had no girlfriend at that time,” he said. “Drinking alone was definitely terrible.” Drinky is designed to combat that sense of solitude: It can clink glasses in a toast and nods its head as its inebriated human buddy rants away. Drinky, though, never gets drunk – the booze flows straight from its mouth down a tube and into a mason jar.
