Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

I love this song. Desperately trying to find his lover during the chaos of the apocalypse. If I ever get married again this would be my choice as my wedding song. Of course I love all three covers. Afterall I picked them! But I have to go with Adalita. The most energy and verve of the three coming from a true Aussie.

By the way the Adalita cover is from a series of Nick Cave tribute concerts put on in Australia. Oh to have been there! The cd of those concerts, Straight to You is excellent. Highly recommended for any Nick Cave fan.

Nice guitar strumming by the The Shameless. I want with them. But all 3 covers sound basically the same as the original, which begs the question, “Why not just play the original?”

I didn’t know this song, and I had never heard of Adalita or The Shameless.

It was a tossup between The Lemonheads and The Shameless, so I listened to each a second time. Still a tough call.

I voted for The Lemonheads partly because I kinda liked some of their other stuff years ago.

I saw Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando perform solo with acoustic guitar at a record store in Berkeley in the nineties.

He endeared himself to me by covering a handful of Gram Parsons songs, which he performed admirably.

not my cup of tea, which is to say I don’t like tea, but I will defer to the strange ramblings of Kerry Black and his stuttered attempts at leaving a positive response.
