cover me impressed 
I love this song so much that just about any cover of it will make me happy. I feel like My Girl is my generation’s equivalent of the current generation’s Sweet Caroline. A song that everyone from the era knows, likes and feels good when they hear it.
All three covers had me swaying, reminiscing and generally happy. This morning Prince Buster especially won my heart.
None of the contenders could threaten The Temptations classic version. Prince Buster had the tempo but the vocals were well short. The Cats sang better but sounded jet lagged. I voted J&M Chain only after listening a second time without viewing the speedy-cut disjointed video.
Definitely a great song, no doubt. I’m a huge Jesus and Mary Chain fan. They’ve done a few covers here and there, but this one never grabbed me. They’re too synonymous in my head with feedback and crunch, and this was just a tad too acoustic for my liking.
Prince Buster does a great version here. I was just about to choose his version, but there was something really sweet about the version by The Cats, and given that I’m a cat veterinarian, I went with the kitties.
I’m a fan of The Jesus and Mary Chain, but this version didn’t really grab me.
I almost voted for the third choice, although I’ve never heard of them. After a second listen to Prince Buster, I went with him.
