Nikki Sudden provides a straightforward reading. Didn’t do much for me. He gets fourth place today.
Liked the version by Jesse Welles. Good voice, guitar, and harmonica. He gets my vote.
Gregory Isaacs is a great singer, and one of my favorite reggae artists. Whenever he appears, he’ll usually have a good shot at receiving my vote, but I don’t think this song is in his wheelhouse.
Everything The Indigo Girls perform is good. This exceeded expectations. Always love me some mandolin, and really good vocal harmonies.
I prefer the version by The Stones to the Parsons version.

Jesse Welles is such a talent! I am delighted that I have only started to scratch the surface of his catalog. Cannot wait to see him next month.
Gregory Isaacs is a reggae legend and always a treat to hear. Not surprisingly, his reggae version is first rate.
The Indigo Girls and Michelle Malone are just phenomenal!!! Such beautiful simplicity.
An impossible choice between Jesse Welles’ outstanding work and the perfection of the Indigo Girls / Michelle Malone.
Maybe because I heard them last but the brilliance an emotion of Michelle Malone’s vocals won my vote.
I got some serious work i needed done in Frankies Little Shop of Houries, gotta get down to business, and Nikki And Jesse, normally love their vibe, but they are definitely jammimg up production … in sore need of some serious bounce, some pep in me step, and Mr Isaacs, he brought The Bounce, shit starts getting done, sometimes you just got to go with The Bounce
Indigo’s, really loved their version too, just a few notches shy on the Bounceometer…
Sometimes when you’ve heard a classic song 1000 times, you don’t really listen to it anymore. You think you know it so you don’t give it your full attention, missing the key subtleties that made it great in the first place. A good cover can at times show you something new in an old song. This is such a well written song. Although Gregory Isaacs is one of my favorite reggae artists, a bouncy and upbeat version belittles the sincerity of the song. Nikki Sudden with no scarf? The man who had a record called Lost In A Sea If Scarves? No wonder his version showed his weaknesses here. Michelle Malone and Amy Ray did a fine job here for second place but Jesse Welles brought home the gold showing how great this song is in the right hands.
