I have said it before and I will say it again … The Pixies … sigh … one of the truly great bands of the late ’80s, early ’90s … just feel that, in retrospect, this highly influential band still does not get their fair due ,,,

Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!
Disclaimer: Votes cast from Florida may or may not be counted.
All three covers are worthy homages to The Pixies.
OK Go delivers a beautiful, stripped-down ballad with the xylophone stealing the show here.
Number Girl throws down a rollicking, electric, Pixies-style tribute with expertise aplomb.
Rhett Miller also delivers a stripped down version but his superb vocals and guitar-work are superior to that of OK Go. Rhett with the game-winner!
Fine song, great song title, a brilliant phrase that stays in your mind. The word mutilation is so shocking that this is a better song for being gentle rather than Pixies tracks that are shouted or in attack mode. OK Go: how far can you go with two strummers and a tinkly thing? Capably rendered and although the guitars and vocals seem overly earnest the tinkling give it an air of fun. Number Girl: I think I’m turning Japanese. More density, more noise. Less nuance, less melody. Is the artwork the best part or the fact that it was over in 2:33? Rhett Miller: better singing from Rhett, good melody and a short, weird strangled acoustic solo I assume from Joey Santiago. A ringer but got my vote.
