Wasn’t familiar with this song when I started the process. Really like it though. May have to look more into The Primitives.

The Automatics do I nice cover but nothing particularly remarkable here. Really like what Bell & Sebastian did with it. But my vote goes with the sped-up version of the Daisies.

Hadn’t heard this song before. In the ’80’s, I used to listen to a band called The Darling Buds, and the Primitives sound very much like them. Kind of formulaic 80’s punky pop, but not bad. The Automatics’ version had nothing really special about it. I like Belle & Sebastian’s different, slow treatment, but I went with the fast Daisies version. I like the way they change styles several times during the song.

initially I was drawn to the daisies version of crash by the primitive their cover had a lot of energy that closely echoed the originals, upbeat charm, and I thought that was going to be my favorite. the automatics rendition didn’t quite land for me. It lacked the interpretative creativity that I look for in a really good cover song. so I took that out of the running

but then I listened to the bell and Sebastian mix in my opinion shifted. their take on crash is markedly different. It’s definitely more subdued and almost dreamy, but I felt like it captured the spirit of the original just in a completely new light what I liked most is rather than trying to re-create the original energy they reimagined the song entirely. Felt like they truly made it their own which to me is the ultimate goal of a good cover. And that’s why in the end their version gets my vote

I didn’t know this song, and the only band I had heard of is Belle & Sebastian.

I really liked the original; pretty much hooked me within the first twenty seconds.

Original is kinda sweet, but in a good way. The Daisies added some rougher edges and earned my vote.

You might have to pretty cynical not to be taken in by this captivating pop nugget. Catchier than velcro underwear. I like all versions and wish to hear many more. Jesus & Marychain could throw fuzz on it. The Feelies could strum it death. I voted for Daisies. They understood that if this song reaches 2:40 you have overdone it
