Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

I love this song and I think all four covers are fantastic in their own ways.

Earle and Roe both deliver wonderful stripped down versions of this otherwise fast and frenetic rocker.

It’s simply amazing to me how well the ukulele works on Bright Little Field’s covers of Replacements songs.

J.J. and ilk definitely win the competition for the most Replacements-like cover! Would love to see and hear these guys live!!

But my vote goes to Bright Little Field for their brilliant integration of ukuleles into a Replacements classic rocker.

This was the closest call and the hardest decision in a while.

Not much daylight between first and fourth.

I might’ve guessed I’d vote Earle, and his version was good.

Some people might think of a ukulele as comic relief, but I’ve always loved acoustic string music, wherever I can find it.

I listened to each cover twice, and ultimately went with Bright Little Field, based largely on the strength of the vocals.

After The Replacements were gone the rereleases showed us that they had kicked around earlier versions of this song. The hard-rockin’ Tim version they chose to shelf had different lyrics. It had be streamlined with fuller lyrics and a doctored arrangement by Pleased To Meet Me. I really like Justin Townes Earle’s version. Smooth, easy delivery. The gentle picking so sweetly moving it along at a playful and hopeful pace. Kris Roe- the spirit is trying to move him as if he were reanimated flesh. The surges are inspired, yet full facilities over his limbs had not returned. Passionately stiff. Bright Little Field- I know some ukers. They are a fine breed of people. Their hands are of common size but not their choice of weapon. Group harmonies abound. Why do actors give their children such strange names?
