When I hear “California Stars” these days, I’m always reminded of the ’98 Guinness Fleadh, that daylong festival of Irish music, also featuring rock and folk. There were three performances that year, New York, Chicago, and San Jose. I rented a van and drove an assortment of revelers, some local, and several out-of-town guests to San Jose from the Berkeley area. As I parked, I could hear the strains of “California Stars” wafting out to the parking lot, with Bragg on lead vocals. Coincidentally, today is the 28th anniversary of that show.
Don’t know The Skullers, but that was decent.
Never heard of Rhett Miller until he performed on this site previously. He gets today’s vote.
Didn’t think Courtney Love would be persuaded to appear on CMI. I wonder what her list of demands might have included.
