Read it in the Sunday papers …

More than 1,300 students at Oberlin College have signed a petition asking administrators to abolish midterms and all grades below C to accommodate their busy protest schedules. The students say that attending demonstrations against social injustice leaves little time to study. “A lot of us started suffering academically,” one student said.

“If you remove the English Army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle., unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts will be in vain. England will still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs.

Donald Trump has not read any biographies of presidents and says he does not have time to read books. “I never have,” he says. “Now I’m more busy, I guess, than ever before.” What he mostly reads are articles about himself, which his staff prints out and delivers to his desk.

A damn shame. This one could have been a contender. But you just can’t slip the original band’s bass player and drummer into the mix and call it your own. Well … at least not on CMI you can’t!!! (Yeah, we’re a bunch of badasses around here, deal with it!)

Johnny Cash:

I know, technically, this is a cover and should be down below battling among other contenders. The problem is this cover is perfect. The song absolutely cannot be performed any better. As such, I feel to include it in the competition would be disrespectful to the memory of the Man in Black, as well as unfair to the poor bastards below who so desperately covet the industry accolades that come with a CMI victory.

I Shouted Out, “Who Ate The Broccoli?”, When After All, It Was You And Me…

I read it in the Sunday papers …

A British woman has a special craving for household sponges – and eats as many as 20 a day. Emma Thompson has a condition called pica, in which people crave nonfood items to eat. “Some people go out for a steak, I would rather go out for a sponge”, says Thompson. “A couple of years ago, I was just washing the dishes and I seen the sponges with the scouring pads and I just thought it’d be quite interesting to try one of them. Ever since that I’ve been addicted to them.” Thompson likes to dip the sponges in dishwasher liquid before downing them. Thus far she has shown no ill effects.
