Broc 3 - Cover Me Impressed
Everybody’s Dressin’ Funny … Cover Me Impressed!

Well, as I have mentioned in the past, I was never a fan of Queen. But my son literally insisted that I listen to this song. Skeptical as I was, he queued it up and … it blew me away! What a splendid rock ‘n roll song!! Has it all … great lyrics … fun refrain … uplifting and infectious … sing-a-long, rollicking good time … what more can you ask for … thank you, Sayed …

Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!

The Regrettes deliver a nice, faithful rendition. A+ for the vocals, both lead and backup.

Scott Bradlee … What could you say? The guy is such a creative mastermind! Here, other than the mid-song vocal interlude and sax, there really isn’t monumental deviation of sound from the original, but still such a treat! Ms. Doolittle is more than up to the challenge!! Brilliant!!!

The Blood Sucking boys … don’t know why these clowns intrigue me so … but they do look like “they’re having a good time … having a ball!”. Can’t help but wonder if one of their live shows would be a loud and dismal ear-throbbing din or an adrenaline-rushed euphoric blast?!!?

Of course, when I saw that my girl, Audra, took on the song, First to Eleven had to be included. And, as always, their cover was kickass great. But, much like The Regrettes, it is an uneventful, albeit, reverent celebration of the song.

All fun and competent covers of a great song but the Postmodern Jukebox clearly took it to a whole other level. Bravo!!!

I was never into Queen, and never bought anything by them. The only material I know would be radio hits and music videos.

I didn’t know this song until it appeared on this site last fall. I like it more than anything else I’ve heard from them.

The Regrettes version was good, especially once they got going.

I wondered if the horror show guys could play, or if it was merely a gimmick. I must admit they sounded better than I expected, and the video was surprisingly good.

Hard to surpass PMJ, and they win most, or at least many, of the contests in which they appear. They win today’s vote.

More good stuff from First To Eleven.
