Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On!??!
Disclaimer: Votes cast from Florida may or may not be counted.
I consider The Police to be one of the most overrated bands of the early new wave era. But their first album was pretty good …
Banter somehow managed to change it up a lot while keeping it pretty much the same, both at the same time. The melodeon and trumpet really work! I loved it!
Aswad gave it the reggae treatment. Given The Police’s latter-career delve into this genre, the sound does not sound too out of place. Nice idea, however, it’s subpar reggae as far as I am concerned.
Mike’s foray into the world of The Police is spirited but, undoubtedly, would have been much more enjoyable to have taken in live (as I did, many a drunken Thursday eve at Trader Vic’s Tiki Bar in downtown ATL 🙂 ).
Annen, Milky et al. kickass!!! Great, soulful interpretation. The harmonica is a fantastic addition! Nicely done, boys, rivals the original.
The Brits and the Germans were at it again … in mortal combat. Could have gone either way, but today, I give an edge to the whimsey of Banter over the emotionally-charged cry of AnnenMayKantereit.
